New F800GS now in dealerships! You'll treat it?

In July last year, we talked about the arrival of the new F800GS. If you want to remember, follow the link HERE

Almost a year has passed for the "novelty" could come from Europe to Brasil, demonstrating once again that although the market is the fifth larger BMW motorcycle consumer and the dealership that most sell BMW motorcycles are placed in here (the very first placed BMW dealership is placed in Brazil) our contry is not in BMW's list of priorities... As everything has good side, teh F800GS arready comes more than tested and re-tested and being given enough time even to correct any failure that may exist.

Surprisingly - and when we talk about Brazil it's really very surprising even - it comes with the SAME price to the previous version. Exactly R$ 42,900.00 (forty two thousand and nine hundred "reais"). Good price? Yes to a motorcycle of such high level which faces competitors like Triumph with it's Tiger 800XC almost with no dealership or spare parts avaliable for the customers of "terra brasilis" keep one eye open. No if you check that is has the same value as a midsize sedan. Not if you consider that it costs outside Brasil exactly 10,750.00 EUROS, which converted to our currency, based on today's quotation it costs a "bargain" of R$ 27,812.00, which would be more than a fair price once compared to the price of better equiped car in Brazil.

Yes It's sad ... We pay over 50% of taxes and even if it comes in "CKD" mode to be mounted in Manaus by Dafra, if you are hoping a lower price... Forget it! Otherwise move to another country.

Skipping this "litlle" matter about price; all the comments in the july last year's post are worth it. Despite the "facelift" - or plastic parts - anything that has not been said already, especially about the "ESA" and "ASC" (electronic damping control and traction, respectively). But, wait! Do not go getting excited because the bikes presented above and with the price, because the standart comes solely with the traction control, and it is so far too good. Better not speak too loud because it was not supposed to be "standard item". Thus, the damping control (ESA), seems to be forgotten. They say it's an item that can be requested. And if so, estimate it around three thousands reais, more manpower to have the component on the bike.

And I say more ... For my part, if it is "only" that, I would pay for it gladly because as I said, only those who have ridden a bike with ESA know the difference that "this single thing" is able to do with the chassis of the bike when well regulated to the ground by the pilot. Something almost priceless, it is capable to lead the bike to a condition nearly to a sport bike - sticking tight while fast cornering - and turning to condition for fully able to off road lifting the shock absorbers and consequently rising center of gravity, making the system more soft, but firm, etc. Finally, a significant change that can be performed even with the bike running (which is not the most advisable when going to move the ESA. The best being do use it when the bike is stopped).

In regards the collors it is that greenish brown (or would be brownish green?) and white. Do not ask where is the blue one in the picture in here along with its biggest enemy. The blue exist, but it stood there in Europe yet. After all, what Brazilian think they are to require all colors? We're just one of the biggest buyers of BMW motorcycles ... But it's just a detail.

Before my friend, the one who always sends me the best gifts of Minas ask me, I'll already answer: NO! The tires do not come without tubes. I keeps comming with the "good" old tubed tires under the argument that it is more resistant to off road. Well  BMW could speak at list that is a matter of cost. At least I never get offended with the truth and it doesn't matter who it hurts. Thus, in the case of tire puncture in the middle of nowhere, forget the practice "little worm" and go get to dismount it - and then reassemble it again - all junk. Always take the tools to do so, becaus it is obvious the one that come with the bike are not more useful than one or another use to tight  screws.

But take a bunch of Touratech accessories, a high windshield that effectively protects a bit from the weather (the original is so small and  only serves as embellishment at most) a good side cases and a "dry bag" by Örtlieb, and it will certainly becomes gorgeous to kill and you - and perhaps my friend from Minas - will forget these meager details about the tubed tires or the poor toolkit. Not to mention that bike is able to take you to the end of the world in safety and comfort. Of course, with an extra gallon of fuel, but nothing that makes you shake in fear.

Anyway ... When you buy yours, do not forget the friend here for a "test drive"! Because I'll only buy mine a year from now on. After all, I don't like queues. And for that it will be, oh it will. Oh, yes!

See you soon!
